Secret to Rounded and Shaped Shrubs

Summary: Getting interestingly shaped shrubs may seem too difficult, but with some patience and just a couple of cutting sessions a year, you can attain your goal. Instead of cutting your plants regularly, cut them at the beginning and end of the growing season. Cut your plants back little by little into the shape you wish them to attain.

Have you ever seen movies like "Edward Scissorhands" and wished that you could shape your shrubs like the ones in that movie? It may not be possible to get the shrubs quite like that, but with a little work and the right kind of shrubs, you can get neat looking shapes in your garden to impress your neighbors.

Once you have shaped your shrubs, you will probably find that the hardest part of the whole job is to stay on top of the growing shrubs. It can be difficult to stay on top of the growths and to keep the shrubs the shape that you want them to be. Fortunately, it is possible to do just a couple of easy cuttings to keep the shrubs in the shape that you want them to be.

All that you need to do to keep your shrubs in a great shape is to prune the growths back in the very early spring months and in the late fall months. This works well because little growth will happen over the winter time, so one cutting at the beginning of spring will cut all that away, and one cut at the end of the spring months should be enough to cut back all the growth that happened over the high growing season. Keep in mind that this will not work in just one easy cutting—you will have to cut back just a little bit every year and work towards the shape that you want. A few years may seem like a long time, your shrubs will be looking great before you know it.

If you think that this will not be enough, try it. While you may find that in a few areas of the world the growth will continue at a high rate all year long, this little trick will work everywhere else. So instead of having to worry about keeping your shrubs in shape, you can spend your time working on the other plants in your garden and creating a really stunning display that your whole neighborhood can enjoy.
